Arbutus Street House
Mosman
A 'modern ruin', this large family home has a discreet presence from the street. The 'bar-code' concrete facade provides strategic glimpses into a home that is perdominently a transparent, light-filled vessel for a multi-generational family. A dramatic, double height casual living area is the core of the home that leads out to the pool and garen. The striking cantilevered terraces on the rear facade, provide expansive outdoor living areas and create a strong rectilinear structure. The randomly sized slots in the canopy roof subtly modulate the form. Large glass pocket doors disappear to provide a seamless transition between inside and outside. This building is a strong, raw, unashamedly modern family home.
